Pianist Anselm Gulde and bassist Alexander Brennscheidt share a stripped-down acoustic setting that thrives on nuance and conversational interplay. Their set weaves originals with reimagined standards and pieces by Thelonious Monk and Egberto Gismonti – at times dreamy, at others rhythmic, always a tight dialogue. Gulde, born in 2004 and winner of the 2026 Steinway sponsorship prize, brings a touch that is both clear and colourful; Brennscheidt gives the bass a singing, almost storytelling voice. An evening for anyone who values high-calibre acoustic jazz in a close-up listening atmosphere.
