About this event

Caroline Creutzburg and René Alejandro Huari Mateus turn their attention to the midlife crisis, in which one's own position within a community suddenly becomes a matter of grave concern. In the format of a crime thriller, they embark on a performative search for clues: What became of their dreams? Who or what killed them? Was it the ex-relationship, the cultural-political austerity measures, their own impostor syndrome? With costumes and set design by Artemiy Shokin and lighting design by Frithjof Gawenda, the stage becomes the autopsy room for those murdered dreams. On the dissection table lie old letters, suspicious objects, the missed possibility of another life, one's own and others' supposed successes, and the body – trace of what it was, evidence of what it is, and work of what it desires. The performance blurs its own tracks, slipping with intuition between interrogation and confession, between murder weapon and divining rod, between failure and self-assertion, between vitality and fatigue, between pain and tenderness.
