This fast-paced, darkly funny production in the Kammerspiele throws a trapeze artist, a ventriloquist, a hunger artist, and the singer Josefine together with Max Brod, the friend who defied Kafka's will to burn his manuscripts. Rather than a reverent tribute, you get a playful, sharply staged parody that picks apart the art world's obsession with meaning-making. Expect glamorous costumes, fire bowls on stage, and a clever script that asks just how much an artist really has to sacrifice for their work – all in about 80 minutes without an interval.
