Kiki Ball

The Frankfurt ballroom collective “anybody walking?” returns to the Mousonturm with its Kiki Ball, an entry-level competition that welcomes both first-timers and those with some experience. Throughout the evening, participants vogue and pose across categories like Runway, Face, Realness, and Sex Siren, while a panel of judges from the international ballroom scene decides who wins. A DJ provides the beats, and an after-show party with the collective GG VYBE keeps the floor going late into the night. The event is rooted in the historic subculture that emerged in 1970s Harlem, where Black and Latinx LGBTIQ+ people created safer spaces, formed chosen families called houses, and developed voguing as a form of expression and competition. The collective explicitly centres queer, trans*, non-binary and BIPoC experiences, and aims to pass on knowledge, preserve the culture, and empower the local community in Hessen.
