Harald Lesch, the well‑known German astrophysicist and science communicator, joins forces with the Merlin Ensemble Wien for an evening that blends classical music with climate science. The ensemble’s eight musicians, led by violinist Martin Walch, perform Vivaldi’s Four Seasons while Lesch takes the audience on a narrated journey from the formation of Earth and its seasons through to today’s climate crisis. The music becomes a backdrop for illustrating how our planet has changed, and Lesch’s delivery mixes sobering facts with lighter, humorous interludes. Staged in the elegant Great Hall of the Alte Oper, the performance runs around two hours including an interval.
