About this event
The evening celebrates the anthology „Einfach lesen“, in which twelve authors wrote stories in simple, accessible German – following self-imposed rules that prove how clear constraints can give rise to artfully crafted, direct literature. Martina Hefter, whose novel „Hey guten Morgen, wie geht es dir?“ – a story of a woman navigating online chats and caring duties – won the German Book Prize in 2024, reads alongside Michael Lentz, an author known for his language-driven and rhythmical works such as „Muttersterben“, „Schattenfroh“ and the widely discussed volume „Grönemeyer“. Both present the pieces they contributed to the anthology, then join editor Hauke Hückstädt for a conversation about writing with stripped-back, precise means. The readings and discussion are interpreted into German Sign Language, and a livestream ticket allows you to follow the event from home. The result is a quiet, thoughtful literary evening that pairs serious literary ambition with an inclusive ethos.
